Description
Overview
The Zacurate 500DL is the Pro Series model in Zacurate’s 500 range of fingertip pulse oximeters; this listing is the Royal Black colour. It clips onto a fingertip, switches on at the press of a button and shows blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) and pulse rate on a red LED display that faces the user, with a battery indicator and a pulse bar graph. Zacurate states a reading usually takes about 10 seconds.
The finger chamber is lined with silicone (made without latex) and uses what Zacurate calls a SMART Spring System to fit a wide range of finger sizes. Zacurate lists the 500DL for ages 12 and above among its non-prescription devices, as an athletic and aviation oximeter; a separate 500DL-M prescription version exists. It runs on two AAA batteries (included) behind a snap-off battery cover and comes with a silicone cover and a lanyard.

Things to consider
- Zacurate lists this 500DL as a non-prescription athletic and aviation oximeter, not as a prescription medical device; the 500DL-M is its prescription version.
- Readings depend on blood flow in the finger: cold hands, low perfusion, movement, nail polish or artificial nails can affect or stop a reading. Zacurate suggests warming the hands first and waiting up to about 30 seconds for the numbers to settle.
- It measures SpO2 and pulse rate only; it does not measure blood pressure, and it has no memory, so it does not record readings or suit overnight use (Zacurate FAQ).
- Zacurate states the unit is calibrated for sea level; at high elevation the user needs to know their normal SpO2 range for that altitude.
