About this product

Overview

The NeilMed Sinus Rinse Starter Kit is a drug-free nasal irrigation system made up of a reusable, low-pressure squeeze bottle and 60 pre-measured sachets of pharmaceutical-grade sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate. One sachet is dissolved in the bottle, filled to the line with lukewarm distilled, sterile or previously boiled and cooled water, to make an isotonic, preservative-free saline solution. The nozzle is placed in one nostril over a sink and the bottle squeezed gently, so the solution flows through the nasal passages and out of the other nostril; then the other side is rinsed.

Lir Pharmacy lists it as a nasal care medical device for adults, and for older children when advised by a healthcare professional. It contains no decongestants, steroids or other medicines, and Lir describes it as suitable for use once or twice a day. One sachet is used per rinse, so the kit gives up to 60 rinses; the bottle is washed and air-dried after each use and replaced periodically. Lir also sells a smaller kit with 10 sachets and a 120-sachet refill pack.

Key features

  • Reusable low-pressure squeeze bottle
  • 60 pre-measured sachets of pharmaceutical-grade sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate
  • Makes an isotonic, preservative-free saline solution with no medicines in it
  • One sachet per rinse, so up to 60 rinses from the kit
  • Used once or twice daily
  • Bottle is washed and air-dried after each use and replaced periodically
