Description
Overview
The Contour Next Blood Glucose Monitoring Meter is a blood glucose meter that Lir Pharmacy lists as intended for self-testing by people with diabetes, used only with Contour Next test strips. A small drop of fresh capillary whole blood, obtained with a lancing device, is touched to the end of the strip and the result appears on the large digital display within a few seconds. Lir says the system works without manual coding. With Second-Chance Sampling, more blood can be applied to the same strip within a short time if the first sample is insufficient, so the strip is not wasted.
The meter stores previous results, lets readings be marked as pre- or post-meal, and allows a personal target range to be set. Test strips, lancets and a lancing device are sold separately; Lir says starter-pack contents vary by retailer, so check the packaging for what is included. It is sold without a prescription.

Things to consider
- Lir lists it as not suitable for diagnosing diabetes or for testing newborn infants, and only for use with Contour Next strips; it is for self-testing as advised by a healthcare professional.
- Strips, lancets and a lancing device must be bought separately, and a new lancet is used for each test; never share lancets or a lancing device.
- If a result does not match how you feel, repeat the test with a new strip and consult a healthcare professional if necessary.
- Read the user guide before first use, store the meter and strips as the manufacturer instructs, and keep them out of the sight and reach of children.
