Description
Some ankles want more than a sleeve but less than a rigid brace. The BioSkin AFTR Ankle Brace sits in between: a compressive sleeve with a wrap built in, so you choose how firmly it holds.
Two layers of support
The sleeve gives medical-grade compression around the joint. The integrated wrap goes over it and lets you tighten or ease the support depending on the day and the activity. BioSkin designed it to stabilize the ankle so it feels more held together during everyday movement.
Padding for the ankle bones
The bony bumps on either side of the ankle, the malleoli, are where many braces rub. BioSkin adds gel padding over them to protect those points from pressure and friction. That matters most when you wear a brace for long stretches or under a sock and shoe, where there’s little room.
This is the XS
This listing is the smallest size. Measure your ankle and check BioSkin’s size chart before ordering; a brace that’s too tight can cut off comfort, and one that’s too loose won’t do much.
Living with it
- Low-profile enough to wear under a sock and inside a shoe.
- The wrap lets you loosen it for sitting and tighten it for walking.
- Check your skin after a long day, especially around the edges of the wrap.
Not a substitute for a check-up
Compression isn’t right for everyone. If you have circulation problems, diabetes, numbness or a recent injury, check with a clinician first. If you can’t take four steps on the ankle after a twist, there’s significant bruising, or the pain is getting worse rather than better, get it assessed instead of bracing and carrying on.
The free Pain Check-Up can help you figure out what your ankle needs, and the ankle, foot and heel pain groups are full of people sharing what’s helped.
