Description
If your ankle feels wobbly on uneven ground, or tired and puffy after a day standing, a pull-on brace with a little more structure than a sock can help you feel steadier. The BioSkin AFTR with Gel is that kind of brace. This listing is size XS–S (SKU 53831).
Three parts working together
- The sleeve: hypoallergenic tri-laminate fabric about 1 mm thick, pulled over the foot for higher compression.
- The strap: a rigid stabilizing strap wraps around the outside and inside of the ankle.
- The gel: silicone J-shaped gel pads inside the sleeve sit around both ankle bones. BioSkin describes them as giving cooling support.
It is slim enough to wear around the house or inside a sneaker. If your doctor recommends toe positioning straps, it is compatible with those too.
Can you get it on?
BioSkin says it is meant for people who can put it on and take it off themselves. Pulling a snug sleeve over the foot takes some hand strength and the ability to reach your foot. If that is hard, a wrap-style brace may suit you better.
Size carefully
Higher compression means a snug fit. This is XS–S; M–L and XL–XXL are sold separately. Check the sizing chart before ordering.
Ask a clinician first if
You have circulation problems, diabetes, numbness in your feet, or a recent injury. After a fresh ankle sprain with lots of swelling or bruising, or if you cannot take four steps, get it examined before bracing.
The free Pain Check-Up can help you think through ankle pain, and the ankle, foot and heel groups share what has helped them feel steady.
