Description
Overview
The AFTR with Gel is pulled on over the foot rather than wrapped, which gives maximum compression around the ankle joint. Because of that design it suits people with the hand strength and dexterity to pull the sleeve into place. Gel pads sit inside the sleeve and contour around both sides of the ankle for cooling support, and a rigid stabilizing strap adds reinforcement to the inside and outside of the ankle.
At only one millimeter thick, the tri-laminate, hypoallergenic fabric stays slim enough to wear around the house or inside everyday athletic shoes and sandals. The base sleeve is fully trimmable — BioSkin suggests trimming the end to hit the ball of the foot — and the wraparound flaps and top edge can be trimmed too. It is also compatible with toe positioning straps if your doctor recommends them.

Good for
- Ankle soreness and swelling after a sprain
- Added ankle stability when returning to walking after surgery
- Wearing discreetly inside everyday athletic shoes, lace-up shoes or sandals
- Support during practice, sport or long days on your feet

Things to consider
- The pull-on construction needs hand strength and dexterity — a wraparound style may be easier if that is difficult.
- Trimming the sleeve for a custom fit is permanent, so measure carefully before cutting.
- Hand wash in cold water and hang to dry; no machine washing.
- If you are recovering from surgery or have an unhealed incision, check with your clinician about which brace style suits you.
